About Hossam Bakir:
Hossam started his career as an Ophthalmologist in Cairo, Egypt. In 2006, after moving to the UAE he continued working in the same field while developing new interests in quality, administration and risk management. Prior to being promoted to Medical Director and Hospital CMO in 2015, he completed his MBA from Atlanta University and Risk Management Certification from Stanford University. In early 2018, just before moving to Canada, his interests shifted towards mental health and subsequently studied coaching and counselling, becoming certified in 2019.
Most recently he completed his Master of Health Evaluation at the University of Waterloo and currently volunteers as a member of the Anti-Racism Taskforce and the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Group at at the University. In addition, he is an Executive Board Member and Treasurer of the International Coaching Federation in Toronto.
With years of study and practice in the clinical and healthcare management fields, Hossam has extensive experience in physical and mental health wellbeing. Working as a mental health coach he understands busy and stressful lifestyles, as well as the challenges facing people to achieve their goals. Hossam believes that proper care of our physical and mental wellness, with adequate guidance and support, can help us reach our goals and move past obstacles that seem impossible at times.
Hossam’s recent work involves coaching doctors and nurses who are transitioning into managerial and executive roles, helping them become better leaders.
